AlterNative Colombia is a tourism company born of the desire to offer a product that respects the guidelines of ecological and community sustainability, thus creating a conscious and innovative product.

AlterNative wants to show the country as it is, with its defects and virtues, without hiding the internationally known conflicts, but highlighting the valuable and often undervalued initiatives of the communities that, strengthened by their character and the folklore of their people, produce a perfect combination to have a unique experience.

Alternative trips can be complemented with workshops and spaces conducive to more than knowing a craft, art or product, live the experience under the direct supervision of local experts.

We travel through the country permanently in the search of new experiences and new destinations, to personally know the suppliers and the touristic products that they are offering, making a selection based, not only on the beauty of the landscape of each place, but trying to achieve a positive impact in the communities and the space where they are developed.

At AlterNative, we focus on applying as much as possible, those criteria that we consider to be environmentally, economically and socially sustainable. In order to do this we maintain strict controls in our work areas to keep low levels of consumption and thus help the planet, however, beyond this we request our suppliers responsibility and transparency in their work, seeking that they too apply these controls and legislation on sustainability.

In the economic aspect, we always seek to work hand in hand with local populations that have been given the task of training and providing good quality services, thus trying to boost regional economies and not leaving the money in intermediaries. In each destination, where it is possible, the guides accompanying the tours are from the area and are in permanent training as well as those who provide food and accommodation services. Less intermediaries translate into lower costs, which in turn represent lower prices for travelers.

With regard to the social aspect, we are proud to work hand in hand with local people who have found in tourism a work alternative that complements their daily tasks, people who provide services with some training and good resources but above all put their heart into what they do and it will be difficult to be better in better hands than theirs.
